Market Sonification and Price Action

“Sonification is the use of non-speech audio to convey information or perceptualize data. Auditory perception has advantages in temporal, amplitude, and frequency resolution that open possibilities as an alternative or complement to visualization techniques.” – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonification

When anyone asks “What is PriceSquawk?” The most direct answer is – PriceSquawk is a tool for market sonification.   I usually then have to direct them to the definition of sonification in wikipedia which starts with the above two statements.  Wikipedia nails it on the head.  Auditory perception is what we can leverage for enhanced trading.  Everything that can be viewed on a chart or in the DOM can be made audible. This truly can work in the favor of the many traders that respond to and process audible information better than visual information.  PriceSquawk is mainly used to complement market ‘visualization techniques, however I think you can use it as an alternative… depending on how you trade.
